Articulatory Speech Synthesizer

The aim of this research was to develop a flexible, high quality articulatory speech synthesis tool. One feature of this research tool is the simulated annealing optimization procedure that is used to optimize the vocal tract parameters to match a specified set of formant characteristics. Another aspect of this study is the derivation of a new form of the acoustic equations. A transmission-line...

The klattgrid speech synthesizer

We present a new speech synthesizer class, named KlattGrid, for the Praat program [3]. This synthesizer is based on the original description of Klatt [1, 2]. New aspects of a KlattGrid in comparison with other Klatt-type synthesizers are that a KlattGrid • is not frame-based but time-based. You specify parameters as a function of time with any precision you like. • has no limitations on the num...

Magneto-mechanical Model for Hysteresis in Isotropic Soft Magnetic Material

In this article, a magneto-mechanical model is coupled with an energetic approach of hysteresis. The proposed modification of the parameter related to the coercive field can model the local enlargement of the hysteresis loop under compression. The proposed model is validated by comparison with measurement at different levels of stress.

Text-to-Audiovisual Speech Synthesizer

This paper describes a text-to-audiovisual speech synthesizer system incorporating the head and eye movements. The face is modeled using a set of images of a human subject. Visemes, that are a set of lip images of the phonemes, are extracted from a recorded video. A smooth transition between visemes is achieved by morphing along the correspondence between the visemes obtained by optical flows. ...

The NTNU Concatenative Speech Synthesizer

This paper describes NTNU’s entry for the Blizzard Challenge 2010. Our system is a conceptually simple variation of an HMM-based unit selection system, which uses diphones as the basic unit and employs a combined selection of units and their join points. The evaluation results of the Blizzard Challenge 2010 show that the system performs well when compared with the other systems.
